Hello Select Family, Fans and Friends,
Our condolences goes out to Coach Lawson and his family. His niece, a very young lady, passed away last week after a serious illness. May he and his family find comfort in all the pleasant memories they have of her. GOD Bless.
Even during time of bereavement Coach Lawson held a very successful TRYOUT on Sunday for his Mighty 12U RED team. I witnessed the selection process and I am positive he is formulating a team that will carry his tradition of winning. We will be honored to say " Mighty RED - Just Go Select!!!
I also attended two additional TRYOUTS last Sunday. Coach Hill had a very good turnout of skilled players that are competing for his Mighty 16U/Tenth Grade SILVER team. His selection process is going to be tough. Thus, he is planning a second TRYOUT scheduled for next Sunday at Price Middle School beginning at 5 PM. Please assist him in passing the word.
The other TRYOUT that I visited was Coach Hall for his Mighty 14U PRIME team. He selected a team of talented players, had an orientation for their parents, prepared registrations, announced tournaments and he is ready to roll. What can I say? The three TRYOUTs that I witnessed last weekend were professionally conducted, following our procedures and should produce very talented SELECT teams.
Coach Ricker informed me over the weekend that his 16U/Tenth Grade CLASSIC team is formed and ready to rumble. All of his players from last season are scheduled to return. All of his players played key roles on their high school teams and demonstrated that their AAU experience last season was key. Coach Ricker has announced a SHOWCASE and EXPOSURE tournament schedule. They are prepared to play in their first tournament in March in the Hardwood Classic.
A couple other teams completed their pre-season schedule by winning championships. The Mighty 8U SOUTH SIDE under the leadership of Coach Jackson earned their third trophy for the season by winning the championship in the NAYBA tournament series. Congrats.
Indicating that they are ready to carry the banner for the Select Nation is our new 11U team, the Mighty BLACK 2022 with Coaches Keown and Elston. They also finished the preseason with a championship win. They took the championship in the Atlanta Metro Ballers Fall League. In addition to earning their second Select trophy the parents of the players presented them with a celebration Select cake. What can I say? Go Select!!!
The Trophy Count for the season is now 13.

I want to remind all coaches and team parent coordinators of the email I sent last week reference SPIRIT wear, the 2015 Select Nation t-shirts. Please response with your orders. I plan to submit the first order to Eastbay on Feb 13.
One additional coach has been approved by AAU headquarters and has received his membership card since the last NEWS email. Coach Hariston. He is on standby and will assist as needed.
Would like to welcome Coach Dale Copper back to the program. Coach Copper will again assist Coach Hall after taking a year off to take care of personal business. He has paid his dues and ready to go. Welcome back.
We are still growing. Two additional Select teams may be announced soon.
