Atlanta Select NEWS - The Value of a Good Name

The most important thing to the

We follow the principles of our organization.
We believe :
In order to ensure that the principles of sportsmanship, fair play, skill development and mutual respect among players, coaches, officials and spectators (fans) are the primary considerations governing competition in the ATLANTA SELECT BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION programs the following “Code of Conduct” has been established and adopted.

  8. Teach each player, especially through personal example, to be humble and generous in victory and proud and courteous in defeat.
  9. Realize, accept and practice the principle that a team’s reputation is built not only on its playing ability, but also on its sportsmanship, courtesy, and manners.
PARENTS AND FANS CODE OF CONDUCT

  4. Enter the playing facility quietly; remain seated during play of the game.  Refrain at all times from going onto the floor, from throwing objects or other foreign materials onto the floor, and exit in an orderly manner at the conclusion of the game.
  5. Follow all building rules and regulations, respecting at all times the property of others.
  6. Demonstrate appropriate gestures of sportsmanship at the conclusion of a game, win or lose.
  7. Attend a mandatory orientation on the ATLANTA SELECT BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION before your child is approved to participate. (Parents only).

Motto: CONFIDENT, AGGRESSIVE, and RELENTLESS! SYNERGY!

We believe that if we follow the codes above that we will gain the trust and respect of all,
thus, we will maintain a
Good Name.

The 2016 Atlanta Select Basketball Tournament season is winding down. There are six more weeks but most of the Select teams will be ending tournament play at the end of the month.  Teams this week will be playing in Exposure tournaments (Power 24),  AAU Super Showcase,  USBA Nationals, End of Summer tournaments (Tournament R Us) and Showcase Invitationals ( Las Vegas Bigfoot and Fab 48).  Their may be a few others playing this weekend.

Good News - Bad News  -  Good News

A testament to having a Good Name.

The Mighty Atlanta Select 16u Red team won the Peach State last weekend, the first by an Atlanta Select team.
(Good News)

The same organization "Linage of Champions" had scheduled a tournament in
Las Vegas beginning this week.
On Sunday night the tournament in Las Vegas was cancelled.
The team's coaches, players and parents had bought airline tickets to and reserved hotel rooms in Las Vegas.
(Bad News)

However, the team still was going to Las Vegas because tickets were bought and they were nonrefundable.

Hearing of our problem the director of the major Exposure tournament (Bigfoot) offered a spot at the last minute in their tournament.

Thus, the team felt good that they would have an opportunity to play while in Las Vegas.
(Good News)

After arriving in Las Vegas and  hearing of the team's situation they were offered a spot in the Fab 48 Exposure tournament, therefore the team will be playing in two major Exposure tournaments in Las Vegas.

(Good News - Good News)

We are happy, pleased and thankful that other organizations came to our rescue in a crisis.

GOD Is Good.

Just Go Select!!!

Atlanta Select NEWS - It's Nationals and Showcase Times, Jul 1 -17.

Ten year ago Atlanta Select teams participated in their first AAU Nationals.
Our teams performed well then in 2006 and they are performing well today in 2016.
For all those years we can say,
"Just Go Select!!!

The Mighty Atlanta Select 14u BLACK team represented The Nation at the AAU Nationals.
They had a dynamic coaching staff with Head Coach Samir St. Clair, Assistant Coaches Clifford Dawson and Robert Daniel.
They had a team of extremely smart players on and off the court.
Their cumulative GPA that year was 3.5+.
Their Head Coach (Sinclair) now resides in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and continues to coach an international team.
Retired Assistant Coach Dawson (pictured below in the black ATL Select polo on the left in a 2007 team coaches photo) is still a loyal supporter of the Atlanta Select organization.

Recently, Coach Sinclair posted these historical AAU pictures above on Facebook capturing the memories of his 2006 team. To the best of my knowledge all of the players secured Division I basketball or football scholarships.

See some of the Facebook comments below from the coaches and players.

The players now have graduated from college and moving on with their lives. I am positive they all have majestic and fond memories playing with Atlanta Select.
Continued Good Luck to all.

**********
The first have of July, in which I called the "Final Exam" month for our teams, they are making the grade.
Only the best teams are still playing and performing well at major tournaments.
