Hello Select Family and Friends,

I told you we we were going to have a great weekend and we did. The Mighty Atlanta Select 10U SYNERGY with Coach G Stewart won the championship at the YBOA Super Regional In Dalton, GA. The Mighty Atlanta Select 7th Grade Lady Select WHITE with Head Coach D. Lewis, in their first tournament ever, claimed runner-up honors as they competed in the finals and lost by 3 points in overtime. Congratulations to both teams as they earned the first trophies of the official Atlanta Select season.

They celebrated by displaying the Dap but they also took good pictures whereas you can see their faces. No problem having a little fun.

The 2016 "TROPHY Count" is 2.

Now, we want to continue to recognize our teams that competed in the preseason leagues and achieved honors. A shout out to the Mighty Atlanta Select Roswell 10U Boys finished second (Runner-Up) and the Mighty Atlanta Select Roswell Lady Select 5th Grade  earned the championship at the NAYBA Triple Threat Shootout. Both teams coached by Head Coach Krantz. He has ordered the Select uniforms and will be ready to compete in the regular season very soon. Congratulations to both teams.

The Ladies above are not sure that they want to play during the Spring, but we will see. Nothing like being a Lady Select.

Coach Burton (Mighty 16U RED) and Coach Hall (Mighty 15U PRIME) are holding a Select Family afternoon of basketball, Sunday, March 13 beginning at 3:30 PM. The location is Victory Church, 1170 Hairston  Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30038. The tentative schedule  Coach Odell Ferrell with his Mighty 17U RED will meet Coach Jason Ricker and his Mighty 17U CLASSIC at 3:30.  Coach Burton and his Mighty 16U RED will meet Coach Ricker at 4;25. Coach Hall will meet Coach Morris and his Mighty 16U BLACK at 5:10. Coach Odell will meet Coach Burton at 5:55. Coach Morris (1`6U) will meet Coach Hall (15U) at 6:40. Referees will be available and coaches please be prepared to pay the refs $25 per game. The Select Nation is invited to attend and witness the mighty Select teams do battle with each other in preparation to win the war against our outside competitors this year. Fun for all. Last April Coach Larry Thompson of the Mighty 8u BLACK team with Coach Stephens alerted me that he was offered the Head Coach job at Greenforest Christian School and that he would not be able to coach AAU for the 2016 season. I congratulated him and wish him the best of luck. His hard work made good luck as his tenure as the first year head coach, he lead his high school team to the State championship last weekend. Larry played for coach and and me when we were Celtics in the mid "90. and of course he coached with us for two years. I am proud of Larry and we all want to congratulate him on his success.

It feels real good to see a former player and coach excel.

If you check our "Calendar" on our web site you will see several teams scheduled for tournaments this coming weekend.  Of course that is a tentative schedule. To make sure that I announce that you are playing the coming weekend, I need all coaches who are playing to notify me on Wednesday evenings that you are. On Fridays I like to alert the nation who is playing and where. EXPOSURE Baby!!! We want the Select Nation to come out and support each other. Why? Because we are SELECT.
