The Select Nation is experiencing its best year ever. Maybe it is because of the many talented teams the Nation has assembled this year. But we feel that the great thing about those teams is that they have worked extremely hard, thus, talent coupled with hard work, have produced unprecedented success. All we can say - Just Go Select!!!

The Nation selected a goal to achieve 100 trophies as an organization by September 1, 2015. The goal was established based on 33 teams earning 3 trophies each, seem like an achievable task when each of those team playing in at least 8 tournaments during the season. However, that goal has been achieved 3 months in advanced because by June 1, 2015 we have reached our goal with a total of 100.

Adding to the count this week was the Mighty 13u Lady Select RED with Coaches McCrae and McCadney. The Ladies won the championship at the "Battle at the Beach" in Panama City Florida. The Ladies went undefeated, defeating the Tennessee Stars 66-60 in the finals. The ladies showed heart and resiliency after being down by 19 points earlier in the game. Congrats.

On a winning streak as they prepare to travel to Kentucky is the Mighty 16u RED team with Coach Odell Ferrell. The team has won 4 trophies in a row. Last weekend they made history of being the first Atlanta Select 16u team that played in the championship game of the Big Shots Gold Division. They earned second place honors but they still have a lot to be proud of. Just Go Select!!!

Also continuing their winning streak is the Mighty 15u RED with Coaches Burton and Sanders. They were champions in the Tournament R Us Memorial Day Weekend tournament. They team has played in a variety of showcase and local tournaments and have proven that they are winners in all. Just Go Select!!!

The Mighty 11u BLACK 2022 with Coaches Keown and Elston earned their seventh trophy for the season. They were champions at the Inner man "Best of the South" tournament. This first year Select Nation team has proven that they will carry the Select banner extremely high. Congratulations and Just Go Select!!!

A shout our must go to our two new teams that were added this month. Teams that decided to join the Select Nation after having a successful run in other organization. They joined the Select for additional support and exposure. We welcome the Mighty 8u Select 94 Feet (Coach Simmons) (adding 5 trophies to the count) and the Mighty 9u Select Roswell Bombers (Coach Krantz) (adding 4 trophies to the count). Both teams will be participating in the Georgia Cup Finals this weekend under the banner of Atlanta Select. 

While some teams were playing in tournaments others were doing community action or fundraising.

The Mighty 13u and 14u COLLEGE Bound teams with Coaches Woods and Johnson, respectively, assembled their players and parents in a Feed the Homeless campaign.  They prepared and issued over two hundred meals. This is the second year that these teams  took on this momentous task.

 

 

The mighty 16u BLACK and SILVER teams with Coach Tony and Elliot Hill (The Hill Brothers) held a fundraiser at a Subway location in South Atlanta. Parent, players and friends were offered to purchase a foot long sandwich and received a 6'' sandwich free.

Well last weekend was Dope. Guess what? this weekend should be Double Dope. We have 4 16u teams in the AAU District/State Championship, teams playing in the YBOA State and numerous teams in the Georgia Cup Finals, plus teams in several other tournaments. Yes, we should go over a hundred trophies this weekend. Check out the NEWS next week.
