Atlanta Select NEWS, Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Each week when I post the NEWS Summary from the previous week I am reinvigorated with Motivation and Commitment to "See It Through".

NBA coaches and former NBA players recently have been extremely critical of the
AAU programs.
Funny, most active NBA players are keeping quiet, maybe not to bite the hand that may have lead them to the NBA.

But in all seriousness AAU has the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

In the book above, in which I encourage all my coaches to read, outline numerous situations that demonstrate these three characteristics.
You must understand what is considered, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly in
youth basketball/AAU operations.

In chapter 30 of the book two coaches are profiled, Keith Howard and Julius Patterson, of the  Inland Empire Basketball Club (IEBP).

We are trying  to model the Atlanta Select program based on their philosophy of
youth basketball.
We considered that they represented the "Good".

We, Atlanta Select, are not perfect, but we strive to do the right thing in developing and promoting athletes that come to our program.

Below are highlights from last week that we feel is promoting
the "GOOD" that is within our programs.

I must give props to the man that got me started with AAU basketball,
my son, Kenny Zeigler.

Last weekend he played in the LifeTime Fitness League National tournament in
Las Vegas, NV

His team, the Bulls from Minnesoto was runner-up.
He told me, "Dad I still can dunk!"
He had several dunks in the games plus many deadly 3 point shots.
He lead the team in rebounds, just as he did when he was in college.
His love for the game continues as he use it to have fun and to keep in shape.
He is an avid supporter of Atlanta Select and understands his roots are from
 AAU basketball.

He can always say,
Just Go Select!!!

******************

Finally, after more than 25 years, Coach Hill and I are still committed to the youth basketball programs through AAU.
We are committed to implement the "Good" in AAU basketball.
It is not easy, but that is our mission.
We were talking today on when are we going to retire?

Enough Said!

Just Go Select!!!
