Justin Allen -- Atlanta Select Salutes You.

Atlanta Select "Salutes" Justin Allen, a former member of Atlanta Select RED Team five years ago.

Justin is now a student athlete (Junior) at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN.
While a Select he played a key role by leading his team as Point/Shooting Guard as the team traveled the nation. He can be proud that he, along with his teammates, help placed Atlanta Select on the map.

While a Select, Justin willingly and actively participated in the "Life Skills" program. Pictured below Justin, along with current Atlanta Select Coach O.J. Warfield, giving an impromptu speech as part of Atlanta Select's toastmasters program.

At Miller Grove High School, again, he helped his team to be recognized as a championship caliber as his team made it to the "Final Four" in the State Championship.

Now Justin can be proud of his college team as they finished the season number one in the NCAA Div II South Atlantic Conference, SAC. The team was 23-3 and they won their conference championship. They lost to Anderson University in the play-offs but the team celebrated as they had won. Justin was part of a team that, the first time in the history of the school, made it to the NCAA tournament.

Justin is the son of proud parents, Ken and Sara Davis and the Atlanta Select family. He is majoring in "Broadcasting" and is schedule to graduate on time. His mother stated, "I am very excited about Justin graduating on time caused basketball only just pays for education but that piece of paper is where it's at". Justin can be justifiably proud of his accomplishments as a student athlete who still believes "Education" comes first.

Go Select, Go Miller Grove, Go LMU, Go Justin (#3).

Atlanta Select Wears - Point 3

Point 3 is evolution in basketball gear. Born from a need and refined through experience, the goal of Point 3 is to provide the basketball player with innovation that will allow them to be their best on the court.

Atlanta Select was selected by Point 3 to introduce its innovative basketball uniform to the nation. We are the first team in the nation to be outfitted with this innovative gear.

The Mighty Ninth Grade Boys RED Team, Head Coach Tony Burton, is the first Atlanta Select team and the first team in the nation to style this uniform.

Unique aspects of the uniform are: built in busted sweatbands on the shoulders for the player to wipe facial sweat and sweat absorbent bands on the shorts to keep the hands dry. The Point 3 patent is DRYV Moisture Control.

Other Atlanta Select teams will be sporting the Point 3 SAK. Gym bags are too big, Book bags don't fit your rock and your pockets can't hold everything. Enter the SAK. With an opening designed to fit around the basketball it provides just enough room to get all the extra in there., but not too much space to slow the player down from getting to the court and calling next. It has an elastic beverage holder, a pocket for the IPOB and keys and a reinforced bottom for extra durability.
The Mighty Tenth Grade Boys SILVER and the Mighty Tenth Grade Boys PRIME will be sporting the new Point 3 SAKS this weekend at the YBOA Gwinnett Roundball Classic.

Atlanta Select beleives that taking it to the next level is more than in one area. We believe we must be top in Education, and Education always comes first. We believe we must be top in Life Skills training. We want to outline the paths to success. We believe we must be top in Sports promotion, because it is all about EXPOSURE. Plus we must Look Good. Go Select.

Life Skills - A Primary Pillar of Atlanta Select - Doing the Right Thing!

The Vision of Atlanta Select Basketball Association is to expand the horizon of young people through education, life skills and sports, while promoting self-sufficiency. The "Life Skills" pillar of our organization shares equal footing as education and sports in the implementation of the overall programs of Atlanta Select.

It is a requirement that at all meetings, training and practice sessions, Atlanta Select coaches conduct a "Life Skills" session. Below Coach McCrae conducts a "Life Skills" session between games at the YBOA Nationals last summer. By the way, the team finished second in the nation.

What is a Life Skills Lesson? It is the laws of life, truths of life, keys to success, or ideals to live by. These are the things that are truly important in life. These are the things that make people truly successful and happy. To supplement our "Life Skills" program all Atlanta Select coaches are required to take and pass the Positive Coaching Alliance course dictated by the AAU National Headquarters.

During our Fall (September - January) Skills Development training Coach Hill, the CEO of Atlanta Select, ends each training session with a Life Skills lesson. Pictured below, Coach Hill discussed with a group of trainees the importance of showing respect, eating right, and preparing to have goals in life.

During team gatherings and meetings Atlanta Select coaches are required to discuss age appropriate subjects to their student athletes. Pictured below are brother coaches, La'Teef and Tahir Pyles, 10th and 8th grades PLATINUM teams, respectively, holding a "Life Skills" session after reviewing game highlights.

On Saturday, March 26, Coach Z, the COO of Atlanta Select, had a captive audiences as he discussed the "Keys to Success" to the Tenth Grades BLACK, SILVER and PRIME teams between scrimmage sessions of the teams.

By teaching these "Life Skills" we prepare our teams to face the challenges of life on and off the court, plus to develop SYNERGY to win more games. But the main intent is just to do the "right thing" as a basketball coach. Winning is simply a pleasant by-product of doing the "right thing". Our vision evolves into our mission -- we use basketball as a tool to expand the horizon of young people. Go Select!
