NAYBA Christmas Tournament - Atlanta Select 16u WHITE

Coach "AC" Christopher gathered Atlanta Select players from several Atlanta Select teams during the Holiday break and nearly won a championship. They lost in the championship game in the 17u bracket after playing back to back games. These young men represented the organization extremely well. We thanks all the Atlanta Select teams that participated in the tournament, the 16u Boys Team WHITE, 16u Boys Team BLACK and the 11u Boys Team SILVER who finished second in their age bracket. Two trophies earned during this tournament. Congratulations to all. Go Select. Happy NEW Year.

NAYBA Christmas Tournament - 16u Atlanta Select BLACK

Coach Walker fielded a strong Atlanta Select team in the 16u/17u bracket of the NAYBA Christmas tournament. The organization can be justifiably proud of the play of these young men. Stellar shooting performances were given by John Tinch from Stephenson HS and DeAndre Mack from Wesleyan HS. Desmond Noird and Raymond Robinson, both of Chamblee HS, lead the rebounding effort. We know that all of these young men will have a great new year on the basketball court. Thanks for your outstanding representation. Go Select.Happy NEW YEAR.

Home for the Holidays

Atlanta Select Coach John Hardy was home for Christmas, the first time in 5 years. He served in the Air Force for 3 1/2 years with an assignment in Iraq. For the last year and a half he has been a DOD contractor serving as a Morale, Welfare, Recreation (MWR) supervisor in Qatar and Afghanistan. He is currently responsible for providing free and discounted recreational services (Rec Centers, USO shows. etc.)to military personnel at several locations in Afghanistan.

He became a coach for Atlanta Select in the Fall of 2009 with the goal of establishing a team in the Kennesaw area. Prior to Christmas of 2009 he accepted an assignment in Qatar and has been overseas ever since. He is happy to be home to visit his family (to include his two young sons) this holiday season before returning to Afghanistan.

Coach Hardy is planning to be back in the states by next Christmas and preparing to lead an Atlanta Select Boys Platinum team. We appreciate his valuable service he is providing our forces in the war zone and pray for his safe return next year.

Congratulations DeQwan Mosley - Made The Team

As DeQwan entered Skills Development training last Sunday, he stopped, looked at me, and I saw in his eyes that he had good news. He wanted me to know that he made his basketball team at Chapel Hill High School.

DeQwan is in the 9th grade at Chapel Hill HS. He wanted me know that he attends the same school in which Bobby Tillman, the young man stomped to death in Douglas County a few days ago, graduated. That he was a classmate of Bobby's sister, that he knew Bobby and was very sad and wished the best for Bobby's family.

He told me how he enjoyed Skills Development training and the skills he gained at the several sessions were instrumental in he being prepared to be selected for his high school team. He will be playing for Coach Glenn on the Freshman team.

DeQwan enjoys swimming, track & field and playing football. My observation of DeQwan during training is, that he works extremely hard at accomplishing any task. I am confident that he will excel in the other sports that he love.

Atlanta Select appreciates DeQwan and all the others who consistently attend our Skills Development training. We are proud to know that our training is helping to make better basketball players of our attendees. Good Luck to DeQwan and all our Skills Developers.
