Select NEWS, Monday, March 2, 2015

Good Morning Select Family,

As you visit our web site this month and open the home page the first song that you will hear will be Glory. It is for our continued celebration of American History and the major significant events that occurred during the month of March. The Marches in Selma, Alabama. The recent movie on that subject highlighted the events in Selma in 1965 and it should be seen by all, just to remind ourselves and others that we have come a long way in 50 years and still we may have not gone so far. Think about it. But let us learn from history because there is a tendency that history repeats itself.

In the world of basketball, the NBA is in its final month of the regular season before the playoffs. At the college level it is March Madness. In high school it is the State finals. And for us, the youth grass roots teams, this is when the stiff competition begins. We are ready.

Two Select teams will begin play this weekend, the Mighty 13U SILVER with Head Coach Frazier,
is scheduled to play in YBOA Super Regional in Dalton, GA

and the 15U SILVER with Head Coach "AC" Christopher
is schedule to play in the Starr Athletics Atlanta Shootout. Good Luck to both teams.

Several of our other teams will scrimmage together in Gwinnett this weekend while others still will be holding Tryouts or practicing. The following weekend we have 8 Select teams scheduled to play and another 10 or more the next. The Select Nation is Coming.

A few weeks ago I encouraged head coaches to canvas their parents and fans to submit orders for spirit gear, the Select Nation t-shirts. . I will be ready to summit another order on this coming Friday.

In an email over the weekend I announced a new Head Coach. Coach W. Michael Leach will lead the Mighty 17U/11th Grade FIRE team. Coach Leach has years of experience coaching basketball and has been monitoring our organization for a number of years. He and his family have extremely positive comments and memories of the the Select coaches and teams that they have seen in the past and now they have selected us.

We welcome them wholeheartedly. Coach Leach is also Bishop Leach and is the senior pastor of Flames of Fire Church in East Point, GA. An open invitation is offered for your attendance. Please contact Coach Leach and welcome him and his wife, Gwen, to the family. Call or text him at (770) 265-6590 or email at fofmi@att.net. Offer your advice and assistance in getting started. SYNERGY.

We are up to 35 teams for the season, 36 as we add Coach Hill's second team. This will be the most teams we have had in our 10 year history. However, I know of 35 of those 36 teams that are planning.

I must say, Coach Chan and his Mighty 10U BLACK 2023 have made a statement in presenting the team to the public through pictures and social media. Their team pictures are Dope. A former Select Nation's Coach of the Year said on Facebook that the last Select team that made such a statement won Coach of the Year. Hey, just a picture will not do it. But you look good, play good, good things will happen. The lesson to all, have your team's photographer take unique and positive images to present to the pubic. It's EXPOSURE. Period.

A shout out to Coach Burton and his Mighty 15U RED team. Quietly this Fall and Winter his team (parents and players) has been raising funds for the season by operating a concession stand for Georgia Tech Sports. As I say, nothing in life is free. You must make things happen. He is making it happen.

I know a lot more is going on because You are running your own McDonald's. I feel Confident that you are doing what is expected, and you are doing it Aggressively, being Relentless about it. Applying SYNERGY as needed. CARS.

More later in the week.

Take Care,

Coach Z.

Just Go Select!!!
