ATLANTA SELECT "TEAM OF THE WEEK", APRIL 19, 2009
The Mighty Atlanta Select 15u Boys Team Black (Coach A. Hill) is the Atlanta Select Team of the Week for April 19, 2009. This team won the D1 Spects King of the Mountain Spring Fling Classic in the 15u bracket on Sunday, April 19, by defeating their brother team (The Atlanta Select 15u Boys Team Silver, Coach T. Hill) in a hard fought battle. Both teams met in the finals, going undefeated in pool play and bracket play, thus, it would become the clash of the titans in the championship game.
This was the second time this year that two Atlanta Select teams finished one and two in the championship round. The 16u Lady Selects did so two weeks ago (Read previous posts in the Current NEWS). Mr. Tommie Davis (pictured right) was selected MVP for the entire tournament and Mr. Thomas Jones, Jr. (pictured left) was hailed the "Best Defensive Player". Mr. Bradley Street (pictured center) was the highest scorer in the championship game.
Atlanta Select is extremely proud of the 15u Boys age group. They are becoming a force to be reckon with. Three of the four 15u Boys teams won trophies this weekend. The 15u Boys Team White (Coach Christopher) finished second in a NAYBA tournament. By the way the 15u Boys team Black has lost only two games during four tournaments this season. They are vying to become the Atlanta Select "Team of the Year". Please visit their team page to read and see more about them.
