Congratulations to the Mighty Atlanta Select 10u "Sons of Thunder",
Trophy Winner at the AAU 10u Nationals.
The team, out of 30 teams with 5 from Georgia, finished in the
Elite Eight and capturing 8th Place in the nation,
The top team from Georgia.
We are extremely proud of Head Coach Eddie Cooke and his staff for assembling and preparing should an outstanding team. He is proud of his young men and justifiable so, for their accomplishment this season.
Here is Coach Cooke in his own words.
Our mission was to compete regardless.
I reminded our kids that their competition was 10 years old just like them!
We didn't do anything special or different.
I believe we were underestimated by our opponents as we advanced to the
Elite 8 with a 5 - 1 record.
Hats off to Coach Molder and his son Antonio who gave 100% every play,
Lil Eddie, who shot lights out and scored another game winning 3,
Pushed us to the Elite 8.
For those who assume we had an easy road,
We finished the tournament with an overall record of 5 wins and 4 losses.
We loss to the #1, #2, #6 and #7 team and beat the #10 and #12 team.
Say what you want, the Select Nation Sons of Thunder are the #8 D1 team in nation!
The experience and confidence garnered at AAU Nationals will remain an
Indelible tool we'll build on.
We head to Charlotte, NC next week to compete in the USBA Nationals.
We will do our best to continue carrying the Atlanta Select banner for
all the world to see.
