Hanging out with the Big Boys - Atlanta Select 8th Grade Scholars

Atlanta Select's 5th grader, 5'6" Josiah Lawson, hanging out with

NBA retired Super Star 7'2" Dikembe Mutombo.

We appreciate the time Mr. Mutombo spent with the team.

The Mighty Atlanta Select 8th Grade Scholars with Head Coach Lawson is playing in the Greater Travelers Rest Fall league every Friday and Saturday. 

They won the league championship last AAU season and decided to play in the Fall league.

This Fall they have beaten the Atlanta Celtics, The Georgia Rising Stars and all other top Georgia teams they played.

On Saturday, October 22, the team had the opportunity to hang out with retired  

NBA Super Star Dikembe Mutombo.

One of the highlights of today's game is that Select player Khessli Ingram (KJ) blocked Dikembe's 6'6" son shot and grabbed the ball and floated down the court and slammed the ball with the authority of a block. 
Both players were good sports and laugh together afterward.

The team has a history hanging out with NBA stars.
Yes, with NBA Star Steve Smith.

A shout out to Head Coach Lawson who has lead this team for the last 4 years. 
 The name of the team's changed from Atlanta Select Red to Atlanta Select SCHOLARS 

to showcase that members of his team not only excel on the hardwood but also in the classroom. He can be justifiably proud of his team's accomplishments.
