Select Nation NEWS, Wednesday, June 11, 2014

Last weekend was another grand performance with six teams adding to the "Trophy Count".

The Mighty Ninth Grade RED team with Coach Ferrell, Champions in the "Rumble at The Grove" tournament. The team earned their 5th trophy of the season and moving to fifth place on the trophy count list. Congratulations to this first year Select team.

Khalid Foster from the team was selected tournament MVP. Again, congratulations.

Our Mighty Second Grade SILVER team with Coach Baskerville earned second place in the Tournament R Us tournament. This is their fourth trophy for the season. Congratulations to our youngest team.

This young team is learning fast on how to rock the house.

The Mighty Ninth Grade SILVER team with the Hill brothers (Tony & Boone) are on a roll. They are champions again at a tournament at ATPP. Quietly they are moving up in the trophy count earning their fourth for the season.

In second place in the trophy count with 7 trophies for the season is the Mighty Fifth Grade RED team with Coach Lawson. There is no stopping them now, they are on the move.

The Mighty Eighth Grade SILVER East and West teams with Coaches Christopher and Chris Morris decided to combined forces and play together last weekend and they earned another trophy, second place in their tournament. To be fair each team is recognized as adding to the trophy count. Congratulations.

We are rapidly approaching our goal of 100 trophies for the season. With 2 1/2 months remaining in the season there should be very little problems earning 18 more. The count now is 82.

Many of our teams are doing interesting activities that I want to share.

Coach Gary Glenn's Mighty Atlanta Select PRO team is putting in the WORK at BO BELL's Training Academy.  Coach Bell, an original NIKE Skills Academy Trainer and a former NBA Atlanta Hawks player, is conducting sessions for the team to  improve and develop new skills in ball handling, foot work, seeing the court, learning the individual value of each player giving great assist, looking for the clear shoot and more.  In the photo below PRO players Taiger Glenn, Z'Andre' Shaw, Jordan Williams and Ty'Kwaan Bryant are proud of the work they are doing while ON the Road to Nationals.   (also in the photo -- Zen Glenn, Tyler Williams and Jadin Knight).

A shout out to all our teams that are preparing for the Nationals whether it is the AAU, YBOA, USBA, USSSA or Prime Time nationals. The National experience at a location outside of metro Atlanta is an experience that the players will always remember. First, they will have an experience to share with their classmates once school is back in session and second, a great memory that they may want to share with their children or grand children. The memory will live on. Thus, I encourage all teams to plan a trip out of metro Atlanta this summer. It will take a combined effort for all coaches, parents and players to make this happen. Fund raise as need be. Help those players who are economically challenged. Make it a team effort. That is what SYNERGY is all about.

As teams submit their summer plans to me I will share with all, just to give you and idea on what is going on and what you can do. Let's get it on.

Continue to have a great week.

SYNERGY.
