The Mighty Atlanta Select Fifth Grade PRIME team made history over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend. 

The team entered two tournaments, East Cobb Playmakers and Tournament R Us. 

Guess what? They won the championship in both tournament.

Third Trophy for the Memorial Day Weekend - 9th Grade SILVER

Congratulations to the Mighty Atlanta Select Ninth Grade SILVER Team with the Hill brothers ( Tony and Boone) as coaches. Champions! This is their third trophy for the season. They have qualified for the Prime Time Sportz Nationals in Dallas, TX and this coming weekend will play up in the 10th grade division of the AAU District/State. They are on a roll.

Second Trophy for the Memorial Day Weekend - 9th Grade CLASSIC

Congratulations to the Mighty Atlanta Select Ninth Grade CLASSIC team with Head Coach Jason Ricker. Champions again. This is their fifth trophy for the season, 4 championships and one runner-up. Their won - lost record is 22 - 9. 






Ranked number 7 in the AAU State, qualified for the Prime Time Sportz Nationals in Dallas and Division 2 Nationals in little Rock, AK. 

They will play in the YBOA State this coming weekend.

First Trophy Memorial Day Weekend - 5th Grade PRIME

Congratulations to the Mighty Atlanta Select Fifth Grade PRIME team with Head Coach Burks. Champions in the East Cobb County Playmakers tournament. Guess what? The team is also playing in a second tournament this weekend, the Tournament R Us Memorial Day tournament. On Monday they will play in the semifinal game en route to the championship game. Good luck and make history, two trophies during the same weekend. Just Go Select!!!

The latest song added to the Select Nation web site is "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" by McFadden and Whitehead. This was a big hit during the late 70's and was a motivating hit to get folks of their backs and move. Not only to dance but to do something positive with their time. Some of you old timers will remember it and you new timers should listen closely. It has a message.

The 19 Select teams above are on the move and represent one half of the Select Nation 38 teams this weekend. The other 19 teams that are not playing are ready and will be in action during the next few weeks. The Select Nation is on the move. No Stopping Us Now. Just Go Select!!!

Select Nation's Mother's Day NEWS

Good Morning,

To all the Select Nation mothers. The Nation would not be what it is if it were not for the loving support we received from the mothers of our student athletes. You are special and personally I wish you Happy Mother's Day.

The picture above speaks to the love and support, plus the recognition between a son and his mother. If you have not heard the tribute that Kevin gave to his mother, please go online and watch it.   It shows his love for basketball, but more so, the love of his mother. Go MVP.

We earned our first trophy of the weekend on Saturday. The Mighty Atlanta Select Fifth Grade RED team added another championship trophy to their collection. They won the D1Spects tournament in the Fifth Grade division.

Our three teams (Coach Gates, Coach Venson and Coach Carpenter)  participating in the Wallace Prather Memorial were all 1 - 2 after yesterday's competition. Good Luck to all.

Watch our Mighty Atlanta Select Second Grade SILVER team yesterday as they scrimmaged another second grade team. You can believe that they are ready. It just so happen that there are not too many tournaments that are for this grade. But they are ready. Kudos to Coach Baskerville and his team.

Our Atlanta Select Ninth Grade BLACK team entered their second tournament this weekend. The results were not what they wanted, but they have the tools to do so in the future. I spoke to the team and just emphasized SYNERGY. They will be alright.

The Mighty Savannah Select 11th Grade RED team is 1 - 1 at Big Shots in Jacksonville, FL. One of their players was injured during a game, taken to the hospital with a stated concussion. Kudos to Coach Little for following the policies and procedures of AAU and Select.  He took swift action, no second guessing, followed AAU Concussion Policy, contacted parents, followed their advice, reported it to me and waited and followed the doctor's advice. The player was not allowed to continue play and will be sidelined for a period. Coach Little is prepared to complete and submit the Incident Report to AAU as need be. That is why I demand that all your players be covered with our additional benefit AAU membership, that covers you no matter what tournament that you participate, AAU or not. Please do not get caught short of having a player on your team that is not a member of the Select Nation. Accidents/incidents will happen. Be prepared.

Today I will celebrate Mother's Day with my wife and children. Going to Brunch this morning and firing up the grill and Bar--B-Que this afternoon. I am with my family but I am with you in support and commitment. Thank you all for what you do. SYNERGY in Action.

The teams participating in Bob Gibbons that lost on Friday night bounced back and won their first game on Saturday with the exception of one. Finishing with a 1 - 2 record at Bob Gibbons and showing that they can compete were:

At the AAU District/State Coach Ricker and the Mighty 9th Grade CLASSIC bounced back Saturday morning after losing Friday night. They are in the running for a bid to the AAU Nationals.

Our teams (Coach Johnson and his Mighty 7th Grade COLLEGE BOUND, Coach Hines and his Mighty 7th Grade RED and Coach Woods and His Mighty 6th Grade COLLEGE BOUND) in Augusta at the Anthony Carter Classic are winning games and playing this Sunday morning. If they make it to the finals the games will be played Sunday night. Wow.

Our Lady Select 8th Grade Lady Select BLACK with Coach Howard had a tough beginning to the AAU State. Keep fighting.

Our Harris and his Mighty 3d Grade SILVER team played 5 games on Saturday finishing 3 - 2. Bracket play was eliminated and the team given a partial refund.

Coach Ferrell and his Mighty 9th Grade RED team are in the semifinals this morning after winning two games on yesterday.

Coach Wallace and the Mighty 11th Grade VISION is in bracket play this morning.

Coach AC Christopher and his Mighty 8th Grade SILVER East is in the playoffs at the USBA tournament in Lithonia.
