Ever wonder what to say in your initial email to coaches?
TIP: Athletes are able to reach out to college coaches at any time. Depending on what year you are in high school, NCAA rules may prohibit coaches from responding. However, that doesn’t mean they’re not following your progress and reading your emails. Here are 5 things to include in your initial email to coaches:
1) Contact information such as home address and home phone number
2) Background information such as date of birth, graduation year, high school name, position you play, amount of years you’ve been playing your sport, other interests
3) Why you’re interested in the coach’s university and why you’d be a good fit for their team
4) Athletic statistics, academic statistics, honors (ex. MVP or team captain), and athletic highlights (ex. best tournament/competition finish)
5) beRecruited profile link so coaches can view your game film, photos, stats, and follow your progress as you make updates
