The Texas Cagers Wins Warm Up Championship
Atlanta Select congratulates the Texas Cagers for traveling the furthest to participate in the "Warm Up for the National" and winning the championship in the 17u division. The Texas Cagers basketball organization is a fast growing program from the greater Houston area. The 17u Cagers, under the leadership of Andre Jackson, are a group of student athletes competing in the AAU circuit all over the United States.
So far this season, they've played in over eight tournaments, including the Great American Shoot-out on the campus of Texas A&M University where they finished as the NBA Bronze Champions. Two weeks prior, the Cagers finished as C0-champs in the Adidas Memorial Classic. Their remaining schedule consists of tournaments in Louisiana, North Texas, Oklahoma and Nevada.
The young men of the Cagers are exceptionally talented. Tad Ecby, a junior at St. Pius X High School, is consistently a high scorer along with Kedron Ginn, a junior at Houston Wheatley High. Noteworthy performances are always given by the "BIG PEOPLE" on the team that play down low, Tola Olushola, a junior at Fort Bend Marshall High, Jacob McWhorter, a junior at CHSA and Michael Mitchel, a junior at St. Pius X.
Atlanta Select salutes this outstanding team and thank them for participating in our tournament. We are confident that they are "Warmed Up" for the remaining of the youth basketball summer season.
