Towers High School - End of Season Basketball Banquet

The Athletic Department of Towers High School held its End Of Season Banquet for the basketball teams on Sunday, March 28, 2010. Mr Henry "Josh" Goshay, the Booster Club president, invited Coach "Z" Zeigler from the Atlanta Select, to be the "Guest Speaker". He spoke about the "GAME", the game of life, and what it takes to be successful.

After a very scrumptious meal the girls and boys junior varsity and varsity teams were recognized and presented trophies by their coaches, Coach Toombs (Girls) and Coach Woods (BOYS). Several of the players are members of Atlanta Select teams.

The principal of the school, Principal Baker, added closing remarks, highlighting how proud he was of the teams.

The banquet was extremely impressive and Atlanta Select was honored to participate and thanks Coach Goshay (16u Boys Team RED) for the invitation.

Community Action - 16u/17u Boys Team SILVER

Coach Payton, head coach, 16u/17u Boys Team SILVER, has ensured that his teams are heavily involved in community action. His teams participated in tel-a-thon at Radio station 102.5, calling patrons to contribute to the Cancer campaign for St. Judes Children Hospital. The team raised over $200,000 for the hospital, WOW! Community Service Project - Atlanta Select 16u/17u SILVER

Atlanta Select teams are involved in community action activities throughout the basketball season. The 16u/17u Boys Team SILVER will be answering the phones to accept pledges during PRAISE 105.5 Tel-a-Thon for Saint Jude's Children's Hospital on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. This team under the leadership of Coach Payton has conducted numerous community service projects this season already. The Mighty 15u Boys Team PLATINUM have practice, practice, practice. They are ready to Play. Under the leadership Of Coach La'Teef Pyles and his brother Coach Tahir Pyles, these student athletes have undergone rigorous training in preparation to hit the tournament circuit. Be prepared to deal with these well prepared student athletes.

Derrick Lottie Jr. (DJ) was recently awarded the Silver Medal in the Atlanta Public Schools, 5th grade Science Fair, District Competition. The District Competition is the highest level attainable for the 5th grade. Derrick is a honor student at Brandon Elementary School. Derrick is a member of the Atlanta Select 11U basketball and is currently enjoying his 4th year with the organization. On February 28, 2010, his team won the Georgia Tarheel, Peach State Classic and he was awarded the Most Valuable Player honors for his leadership at point guard and defensive prowess. Derrick aspires to be an attorney and agent for professional ball players and stage performers. We expect Derrick will achieve his career goals because he is building a stellar, personal portfolio of assets. Derrick’s achievements personify the profile that we seek to attain for student athletes who are affiliated with the Atlanta Select Basketball Association

Grown Man Business

I want to congratulate MICHIAH JEREMIAH of the Atlanta Select 9u RED for making the QCAA Invitational All-Tournament Team in Charlotte, NC February 19th-21st. He was one of 5 student athletes selected. It is an honor and a privilege to coach him. He not only represented the team and organization well but as the only team not from NC he represented the entire state of GA. This was teams 1st of many out of town trips to come. Look for many more good things to come. I want to congratulate the entire team for their hard work and dedication all of you make me proud to honored to coach you all. Last but not least with out the support of my parents none of this would be possible so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!
